Program Manager

David has over 15 years of experience as an environmental and sustainability consultant, project manager, and researcher for local governments, organizations, and private sector customers.  He offers customers a diverse background in the fields of sustainability, environmental impact assessment, facilitation, writing, and environmental planning and policy analysis. His experience includes collaboration with a diverse set of customers, organizations, and agencies ranging from the international Earth Charter Institute, IUCN-World Conservation Union, and Australian Research Institute on Education for Sustainability to local governments throughout the western United States. David has led a variety of complex environmental projects, including organizational change strategies, municipal code updates, sustainability plans, environmental impact assessments of large infrastructure projects, and analyses of government plans and policies.

David also is a widely published writer and book author, covering topics related to the environment, sustainability, and green consumer issues.  He researched and co-authored the book Engaging People in Sustainability, published in 2004 by the IUCN-World Conservation Union. His writing experience also includes over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, books, and consumer publications for National Geographic, Sierra magazine, Sustainable Industries, Planning magazine, and several other national and international publications.

David holds a Graduate Diploma in Sustainable Development from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia; an M.S. in Environmental Planning from the University of Washington; and a B.S. in Resource Economics from Cornell University.

In his free time, David enjoys backpacking, digital photography, and daydreaming of his next exotic vacation destination.
