Colorado College Environmental Inventory and Sustainability Management Plan
Brendle Group Engages Campus Community in an Innovative Sustainability Plan
Brendle Group prepared a comprehensive environmental and greenhouse gas
inventory to support a management plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and
carry Colorado College toward greater sustainability. The environmental
inventory included a greenhouse gas inventory developed using the Clean
Air-Cool Planet higher education-specific inventory tool, energy and water
assessments of more than 1.5 million square feet of campus facilities, and
quantitative and qualitative data collection on a full spectrum of campus
activities and operations, from energy and transportation to procurement and
curriculum.
The project also included extensive benchmarking to demonstrate Colorado College’s position on greenhouse gas emissions relative to peer colleges across the country. The Sustainability Management Plan included both short-term and long-term goals to help reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions and bring the College toward carbon neutrality, as well as into greater alignment with sustainability on a wide range of issues.
